Welcome to Shane Mortenson's Colt Starting and Extreme Equine Training Solutions website.  The intent of the site is to introduce Shane and his style of training/teaching horses the basics of life.   

The training we offer provides the essentials to building a horse from the ground up and is fully flexibility to your needs.  The uniqueness to our program is that we have had a wide variety of horses no matter the breed, problem or size, from ponies, to mustangs, to even drafts.  We have had horses with severe bucking problems, unbroke 2yr, unbroke 8 year old horses.  We can work with you and your horse simultaneously on any problems you may have.  Please do not take the "extreme" term literally, all I am implying here is that I take on the very tough horses.

Riding instruction from Shane will find your balance point and build upon it!   As a 20 year veteran of riding bulls there are skills and techniques that most people have never thought about that will teach you how to ride from your seat and stay off your horse's head.  That is what it is all about!   

Pictured at right is Scrappy and Shane.  Scrappy is my ranch horse in training.  He is three and has been on many trails and worked on cattle.

I am still in Afghanistan and will be returning soon.  Should be in Virginia around October 15th.
